Red Hot Chili Peppers, a Banda que ressurgiu das cinzas e voltou ao topo das paradas no final da década de 90!

Um pouco de história da banda:

O grupo Red Hot Chili Peppers foi formado em 1983 na Califórnia pelo vocalista Anthony Kiedis e o baxista Flea (que já havia participado de uma banda chamada Fear), então alunos da Fairfax Highschool. A banda foi completada em sua primeira formação por Jack Sherman (guitarrista) e Cliff Martinez (baterista). Antes de assumirem seu nome definitivo usaram os nomes Los Faces e Miraculously Majestic Masters Of Mayhen.

O primeiro álbum, auto-intitulado, não obteve absolutamente nenhuma repercussão. Freaky Styley de 1985 foi igualmente ignorado por público e crítica. À época do segundo disco a formação da banda já contava com Hillel Slovak (guitarrista) e Jack Irons (baterista), que haviam sido colegas de escola de Kiedis e Flea.

Em 1988, após lançarem o terceiro lp, Uplift Mofo Party, Slovak morreu de uma overdose de heroína, sendo substituído por John Frusciante. Jack Irons também abandonou a banda, sendo substituído por Chad Smith.

Embora as vendas de álbuns ainda fossem medíocres a banda começava a se tornar conhecida pela sonoridade alternativa (mistura de funk e heavy metal, entre outros estilo) e principalmente por se apresentarem ao vivo vestidos apenas com uma meia nos membros. Kiedis comentaria mais tarde sobre a entrada do baterista Chad Smith na banda: "Ele possuia a atitude e o pênis de um Pepper". A nova formação conseguiu o primeiro álbum de sucesso da banda, Mother's Milk, em 1989, que vendeu 500 mil cópias.

BloodSugarSexMagic explodiu em 1991, levando a banda ao topo das paradas de todo o mundo, com músicas sendo executadas à exaustão nas rádios e MTV (entre outras os mega sucessos Give it Away, Under The bridge e Breaking The Girl). Em meio à turnê que se seguiu Frusciante deixou a banda, sendo substituído por Arik Freak Marshall (um outro amigo de infância de Flea), que por sua vez logo seria substituído por Dave Navarro (guitarrista do Janes Adiction).

A fase de grande sucesso passou e One Hot Minute, álbum de 1995, apesar de muito bem aceito por crítica e fãs fieis, conseguiu uma repercussão apenas razoável, fraca se comparada a BloodSugarSexMagic.

Após quatro anos parados, eles ressurgem em 1999 com o álbum Californication, com a volta de Jonh à guitarra. A música teve notável mudança na presença apagada do funk em suas canções, marca registra da banda, e pelo crescimento melódico que demonstrou em várias faixas. O CD fez sucesso mundo afora e ressucitou a quase extinta banda californiana. Entre os grandes sucessos do álbum, o single "Scar Tissue".

Em 2001 lançam o Álbum By The Way onde permanece a dinâmica melódica frente ao peso do funk, e emplaca hits como "By The Way", "The Zephir Song", "Can't Stop" e "Universalli Speaking", mostrando amadurecimento na sonoridade apresentada.

No final de 2003 lançam "The Best Of" com hits famosos e duas músicas inéditas.
